Kiteboarding Equipment

The kiteboarding equipment you will need in order to kiteboard on land includes a board, a control bar and kite. A harness is also preferable, especially if you need to take your hands off the control bar in order to perform tricks. It is technically possible to kiteboard with just a skateboard and a large kite, but having official equipment will help you be able to control the kite and where you are headed.

The kite can be attached by either two, three, four or five lines. Kite sizes vary depending on how much wind the rider plans to board in—smaller kites for more wind, larger kites for less.

Finally, the helmet may be less thrilling than these other pieces of equipment, but it is no less vital, especially for those riders who will be attempting airborne tricks. Kite developers are continuing to improve the design of the kite to prevent them from dragging the rider after a fall.
