Kiteboards

There are two distinct types of kiteboards available: boards designed for kite surfing and those designed for kite boarding. The difference is that the former works in the water (more like a wakeboard) whereas the latter, equipped with wheels, works on land (more comparable to a skateboard).

The differences from there are far more subtle, with there being nearly as much variation in kite surfing boards as wakeboards. Beginners will likely seek a long, wide board with high volume in order to help with balance. Advanced riders are able to select boards designed for speed and tricks according to individual preferences.

Kite surfing boards come with a control handle so that the rider can direct the kite and move in whatever way he or she pleases. To get started, the rider moves the kite to a neutral position directly overhead, straps into the board, and then moves the kite in either direction to generate a pull.
